Hello

Since early childhood, I have always been living and breathing art: reading about it, visiting galleries, listening to lectures,
painting, sculpting and taking pictures.

My Story

I am 65 years old, live in Sdeh Warburg with my partner. My partner and I have five children and three grandchildren.

Since early childhood, I have always been living and breathing art: reading about it, visiting galleries, listening to lectures, painting, sculpting and taking pictures.

After graduating from Kalisher Art College, I concentrated on painting. Throughout the years I explored the image of "Woman" – her essence, internalness and sexuality – from my personal point of view. This issue is still on my mind today. Nowadays I am exploring various figures, such as Medusa and Lot's wife.

Those were oil paintings on large canvases, in a figurative but non-realistic style. I painted layers over layers, which created a dual message: exposing and hiding at the same time.

At a certain stage, I felt the need to experience additional ways to create art. I was looking for a technique to combine photography with painting. Therefore, I studied professional photography.

After exploring an idea or a topic that interest me, I work intuitively:

In the space in which I work, various objects are piled up: paintings, rocks, textile items, sculptures and objects, which I have collected here and there. On the pile of objects, I project images from several sources. This way a kind of a living scene is created.

My work process is very material but, at the same time, based on layers of presence and of hiding. The same motif of disclosure and concealment expressed in my paintings appears here as well, as the images emerge and disappear, are lighted and dark, sometimes poke out in front of the camera, or blend in the background. These images become a set of metaphoric and formative oppositions.

The final piece is a photographed image.
